Conflict and Resolution: The Hunger Games

Authors Note: For Conflict and Resolution I choose to do The Hunger Games and the conflict is that Peeta is in love with Katniss but Katniss doesn't love him back and how they resolved it is very complicated.

A story that I read last year was the book The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. A girl named Katniss Everdeen volunteered to be a tribute when her sister’s name was called. A boy named Peeta Mellark who has had a crush on Katniss forever got called to be the male tribute and will have to face death with her further on in the book. The biggest conflict is that during the games Peeta is forced to try to find and possibly kill Katniss while he is still madly in love with her. She then plays a game where she pretends to be in love with her but Peeta doesn’t know it. Katniss also feels some feelings for her friend Gale back in her district.

This conflict is resolved by their mentor Hamish who helps change the rule that only one victor can be crowned and changed it so that two victors can be crowned if they originate from the same district. Katniss then tries to find Peeta and when she does she starts to play a game where she pretends to be in love with him back so that they can get sponsors to help them survive. In the end he finds out that Katniss really doesn’t like him back and is a little upset with it but it still kills him inside. Really this conflict isn’t resolved in the end of this book but it is in the end of the series.

  1. Don't forget to add your author's note!
I liked how you explained what the main conflict was but give a little more detail to how it all came together and how Peeta and Katniss like each other and the reaping, etc.
Can you explain a little bit more on the second paragraph because it didn't have a lot of detail to it. Give a little more descriptive language in the story.
    Otherwise, great job!!!!!!!!
