Drilling in Alaska

Author's Note: I think that drilling would be a waste of time. We need to find another resource.
Everyone has been wondering about if people should start drilling in Alaska. There are many good reasons and bad reasons for if we should drill in northern Alaska. For me, I think that we should not drill in Alaska because there would be too many things at stake, for instance, the environment.

Drilling for oil in Alaska is too risky with all of the wildlife there. If we were to start drilling it would require networks of roads and pipelines that would hurt the habitat, disturbing and displacing all wildlife. It would break my heart to see animals being moved from their natural homeland. Moving animals from their homeland isn’t the best idea because they will be surrounded by unknown resources and get real nervous. Another thing is all of the trees would just go to waste. Leaving wildlife forced to move on to another home. If the oil pipes where to break, the oil would spread everywhere. It would spread to the ocean killing the all of the ocean life there and killing all of the animals that get covered in oil.

Of course if we don’t drill for oil we will have to keep buying from other countries considering we only have three percent of the world’s oil. Yet we use about thirty percent of it. The gas prices will keep going up until most nobody can afford oil for their cars. So if we ever run out of oil or if we need it we could always have backup oil in Alaska. Let’s say that another country wants oil. I bet they would pay anything to get it so that way we all win.

The native people that live there might not be so happy about us drilling there. Though, some people might let us drill but they want money which makes no sense to me. I would never give up my land even for money. Those natives might regret it by not finding another home like the one they lost trading it for money.

We have had some ideas about how to start cars with solar panels and electricity. I hope that we will find an answer soon because I heard that in 30 years the Earth will run out of oil. I’m sure by then we will have something. It would be better if we just save it in case of an emergency.

Spells and Sleeping Bags

Authors note: Well Spells and Sleeping Bags is quite different than most other books with a hint of magic.
There has to be one reason that Sarah Mlynowski keeps making these fantastic series. My opinion is that Sarah likes writing books with magic. Sarah Mlynowski might want to right about what the prospective of a witch is. For instance bad witches and good witches are both in Spells and Sleeping Bags. Rachel and Miri find out at camp that they have a long lost cousin; Liana, a very bad witch who is out to make Rachel’s life miserable.

Liana is pretty much considered the wicked witch of the west. She is making everybody her slave by putting a spell on her water bottle and whoever drinks from it becomes her best friend. To me Liana is acting like a five year-old. This is so because she is trying to make Rachel’s life miserable only because she doesn’t like her. That is just the most childish thing I have ever heard of. Good thing that this is only in a book.

There really isn’t a page in this book that I don’t like. Each page has its own part of the book. For instance, on one page Liana is trying to be Rachel’s friend and the next page she is making everybody turn on Rachel. She had just about had it and is planning to get revenge. Readers can relate to this book from its realistic lifestyle. If anyone has a little or big sister who makes their life miserable just for their entertainment, they can really relate to this specific book.
